The Most Wonderful Quarter of the Year!!!
Fall is in full swing, and we have officially entered my personal best, but also the quickest quarter of the year. No, it has nothing to do with the change in weather because here in Houston 90 degrees is still a thing in October, so we’re pretty much still on summer mode. Spooky season, turkey season and jolly season is now upon us which will make every observation and celebration fly by.
This month we have Halloween, of course, and even though I don’t dress up for the occasion it’s difficult not to enjoy the decorations you see around various neighborhoods. It really is a mood and I’m here for it. Unfortunately, “trick or treaters” haven’t been much of a thing on this street for quite some time, so I tend to just get at least one jumbo bag of candies in case a straddler happens upon this house. At the very least now in October means the NBA games (preseason and regular season) will be my entertainment by the time Halloween comes around, so at least there’s that.
October, or the start of Quarter 4 for the year also gets me into the planning stages for my next road trip, I’m heading back towards the west coast. California and Oregon are the main goal to reach for this mid-November trip. Last year in October the autumn trip took me to Minnesota in pursuit of fall foliage photography and the idea of doing a similar trip to another northern state this fall became a loose plan.
Of course, I can hear people say, “sorry to burst your bubble Alberto, but California isn’t a northern state!”. No duh, genius!!! During the summer one of my sisters just happened to have moved states and I told her I would go visit her in November and this now gives me a chance to revisit the Oregon coast –which I fell in love with because of its unique coast and i feel like I didn’t do such a great job photographing it the last time I was there. Basically, it’s a “take two” scenario but during the autumn season.
I’ve created a bucket list of tentative places to visit during this week long trip, mainly an itinerary of places I would like my parents to view and experience, since they’re going to tag along too. Just like how I used to take the daughter and one of the nephews on several road trips when they were younger, with stops at various places, I’m planning to do the same with the parents. Let’s cross our fingers and see if it pans out for them!
This was short “touch base” here to make sure I keep this up, and if anyone has been following with my consistency since July, I thank you for tagging along. Here’s to all the autumn weather and Halloween enthusiasts out there! Enjoy and be safe!
